Biography

Tommy Hill started out in motocross before switching to tarmac in 2001 and quickly made an impact in the British paddock.

Hill burst onto the scene by winning the Virgin Mobile Yamaha R6 Cup in 2003, which awarded him the chance to make his Bennetts British Superbike Championship debut a year later. He remained with the team, claiming his first race win in the series at Cadwell Park in 2005.

Hill remained in the championship until 2008 when he was due to compete in the World Supersport series, however in pre-season testing injury then curtailed his debut and when he did, he was again injured which ended his year.

Hill started the season in the World Superbike Championship, before moving mid-season back to the British series, joining the Worx Crescent Suzuki team to substitute, before finishing out the season with the Hydrex Honda squad.

In 2010, Hill was back on the grid and fighting for the BSB title with Worx Crescent Suzuki, taking the title fight to the final round of the season at Oulton Park, however he ended third in the final standings.

Hill was a part of arguable the most memorable title fight in all of BSB history in 2011 when the tussle for the title went down to the final race in the season finale at Brands Hatch. An incredible final lap saw Hill cross the finish line just 0.006s ahead of archrival John Hopkins to claim the title.

Hill returned to defend his title, but it wasn’t to be and since retiring from racing at the end of 2012 before running his own team in the championship and now works with the all-new FHO Racing BMW team.
