Honda UK has a strong history in the British Superbike Championship and in 2003 this team became Honda Racing.
The team have secured three BSB Championship titles making them the most successful team in the paddock with Ryuichi Kiyonari winning the title in 2006, 2007 and 2010. The team has also won three British Supersport and a National Superstock crowns.
Honda Racing has fought for BSB titles in the past with riders including Leon Haslam, Cal Crutchlow, Jonathan Rea, Leon Camier and Josh Brookes.
After a dream start to the season with Kirkham winning the opening race the team have since been unable to match their podium finishing form. Laverty scored a top six at Oulton Park whilst Kirkham had a horrific high-speed crash that ruled him out, but he will return at Snetterton. The former triple champions are aiming to come out stronger at the Norfolk circuit where they topped the pre-season testing times.
We were very happy to announce Michael and Jon who bring a great mix of different talents and personalities to the team. They have great natural racing ability and proven credentials, but all of them also very much have the potential to go even further and have things they want to prove in the championship. With this combination, coupled with the new regulations and the new 2012 CBR1000RR Fireblade, we are injecting some great new energy into our racing operation and we will continue to be a force to be reckoned with next season.
