We have the best two prospects in this country and to have them on the best factory bikes money can buy is fantastic. We are increasing our profile considerably in the paddock thanks to Tyco and our other sponsors and although our proven fundamentals of Quay Garage Racing will remain, this is a brand new and exciting era for the team.

Team Profile

The Quay Garage Honda team were formed towards the end of the 2003 season, when James Buckingham competed in the BSB Cup. In 2004 the team had their first full assault on the title, with Buckingham taking fourth in the overall standings and securing a double race win at Mondello Park.

In 2005 Buckingham was able to take the title, racking up 13 race wins and several top ten finishes in the overall championship. The following year Buckingham was back to defend his title and was leading when he suffered a heavy crash and broke his leg which forced him out of the remainder of the season. He was still able to retain fourth in the Cup standings despite only finishing ten races, eight of which he won.

In 2007 Buckingham was almost back to full fitness and was able to secure six race wins and a further nine podiums on his way to taking second place in the overall championship standings.

Last year Buckingham was set to start the season, but decided to hang up his leathers and was replaced by Gary Mason, who immediately made an impact on the Championship when he joined the squad at Donington Park. With eight wins and four podiums Mason took third in the overall standings despite missing the opening three rounds.

In 2009 Mason returned for a full season with the team following his impressive previous season and took 18 race victories on his way to regaining the title the team last won in 2005.

The team signed Tommy Bridewell for the 2010 season who took the challenge to Mason in several races the previous year. The reigning BSB Cup champions had a mixed season, with Bridewell reguarly upsetting the results and mixing with the bigger teams.

For 2011 the team have expanded to three riders and have a new title sponsor with the backing of Tyco Security Systems, whilst over the winter they have taken delivery of the championship-winning HM Plant Honda Fireblades. Bridewell returns for a second season and he will be joined by Peter Hickman, with Swiss rider Patrick Muff lining up in the Evo class.
