Laverty once again led the pack from Brookes and Ryuichi Kiyonari, however the second HM Plant Honda dropped to fourth as the pack which moved Michael Rutter to third. Brookes though took the lead, but then Laverty retook the advantage. The top two were scrapping for the lead which allowed Rutter to close in and make a pass on Laverty at Stowe on the seventh lap after Brookes took the lead at Maggotts earlier in the lap. Rutter then had his sights set on Brookes and with three laps remaining he stole the lead and despite the best efforts from the HM Plant Honda rider he was forced to settle for second behind the Ridersmotorcycles.com Ducati with Laverty third. There was an intense battle for fourth as James Ellison challenged Alastair Seeley and despite the pair swapping places several times the Swan Honda remained ahead. Ellison made a move on championship leader Tommy Hill who was struggling with grip issues and then he had Kiyonari in his sights. Ellison held on to fourth ahead of Kiyonari and Seeley in sixth, whilst a last lap pass from Simon Andrews on the MSS Colchester Kawasaki dropped Hill back to eighth.

Michael Laverty saw his chance of another podium vanish on the opening lap when he was involved in a crash with Loris Baz and Chris Burns whilst the Swan Honda of Ellison powered into the lead ahead of Kiyonari and Michael Rutter. Laverty rejoined but was forced to retire with a technical problem. Josh Brookes was working his way up the order and made a move on Alastair Seeley to move fifth and then he was pushing Gary Mason hard for fourth. However there was disaster for Rutter as he crashed out of third. Mason then was in a potential podium position but Brookes made a move the lap later to go third and relegate Mason to fourth.
