Donington Park first opened its gates in 1931, initially for motorcycle racing and then two years later for car action. The circuit went on to stage Grand Prix for both motorcycles and cars in the pre-war era. Donington Park was subsequently re-built and re-opened in 1977 and has staged the British Motorcycle Grand Prix annually since 1987. Among other accolades, Donington Park staged the first ever round of the World Superbike Championship, as well as holding the F1 Grand Prix of Europe in 1993. BSB returns to the track for the first time since 2009.

Race one:

Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier won a dramatic incident-filled opening race, which started with an incident involving Sylvain Guintoli and Josh Brookes on the sighting lap to the grid. Brookes was uninjured but Guintoli suffered a broken right fibula and tibia in the incident.

The race was a battle of the Airwaves Yamahas as James Ellison led in the early stages, whilst eventual race winner Camier fought his way through from fifth to take the win. There was a real tussle between Simon Andrews and Chris Walker for third. Andrews later crashed out of contention leaving Stuart Easton to pass Walker for the final podium position.

Race two:

Airwaves Yamaha's James Ellison secured a maiden win in the second race. Chris Walker had led the early stages, whilst Leon Camier suffered a technical problem causing him to stop and then restart from dead last but worked his way through the field to finish in the points with a 12th place.

Ellison had worked his way through to the front of the field ahead of Stuart Easton and Walker and Glen Richards. Easton was able to hold second for a double podium finish whilst Walker celebrated his first podium finish of the season.
